This waterfall is one of the features of Rock Creek, which empties into the Kankakee River. LeeAnn and Barnie wait patiently on the Rock Creek Trail while I take photos and video of the waterfall. LeeAnn expertly negotiates a stream nearing the end of the Rock Creek Trail. This is the same stream about 1/2 mile downstream. A covered bridge crosses the same stream on the paved path that winds through the park's day-use area. Driftwood is placed in a fire pit along the river. Two Canada Goose families forage in the rain along the riverside. Barnie looks back wondering why we stopped while walking along the Rock Creek trail. After a narrow first about 1/3 mile, the trail is quite wide and flat. Some people have attached locks to a swinging bridge that crosses Rock Creek. Walking the paved path through the park took us through several stands of trees that haven't sprouted leaves yet. The campsite next to ours featured this building with no markings other than "closed." Its the only one in the entire campground. Wood cut from fallen trees is stacked at several campsites. We're assuming park workers made the stacks. I prepare the grill for burgers on a drizzly day at our campsite. I'm staying dry under our awning. One of the families swim to Langham Island Nature Preserve, which can be seen from the river bank. On the day we left for Indiana Dunes, the sun finally came out in full force. These flowers are in a set-aside wildflower area along IL 102. In the wildflower area there are two tic-tac-toe boards cut from tree trunks with small stools of tree branches or small trunks. I couldn't resist taking more flower photos in the wildflower area. The Launching Pad restaurant on historic Route 66 in Wilmington features a large statue called "Gemini Giant." Everyone in the Launching Pad was quite friendly as we checked out their wares. The Gemini Giant is as tall as the house next door to the restaurant.
