Village Greens Miniature Golf

LeeAnn waits to putt on the first hole.

We played a truly unique miniature golf course the other day near Lancaster, PA. LeeAnn found it in a travel brochure and said we need to go. She showed me the pictures for Village Greens Miniature Golf Course and I saw she had a point.

It looked like it was a traditional putt-putt course of the type one doesn’t see much of anymore in a nicely manicured garden setting. That was enough for me to want to go, but once we got there, we realized it was so much more.

Let me get the landscaping out of the way. It was incredible. I would have paid an entry fee just to walk through the place. It had beautiful flower beds, natural-looking man-made streams and water falls, and a lush lawn. But that was just the beginning. The course itself was really something.

First, we had to make a decision: Orange course or Gold course. We chose gold, a 24-hole course (I know). When we got our clubs and score card, the lady in the booth told us the score card indicated spots on the course where there are extra balls in case we loose a ball. That should have been our first clue that we were in for a challenge. The next clue was the first hole: a par 4. The green went over a bridge, made several 90 or 45 degree turns, and jumped a water hazard. Several holes required us to putt up very steep hills, some long, some short, all great opportunities to lose a ball.

Not pictured here is the long hill we had to putt up to get to these levels.

We had a great time and will definitely seek it next time we’re in the area.
